The second of Le Filigare’s Super Tuscans is a blend of Merlot and Syrah (70/30), grown on the higher-altitude slopes of the Le Filigare hill. The wine comes from a single 0.8-hectare vineyard, originally planted in the early 1990s. Syrah accounts for just 2% of plantings in Tuscany and features in only a handful of wines of this style. Here, grown at altitude, it brings piquant spice, freshly cracked black pepper, a distinctive tapenade note, and dark fruit character, complementing the plush Merlot. As with Podere Le Rocce, the grapes are fastidiously sorted to ensure only the finest fruit is selected, and the wine balances poise, structure, and power with understated authority. The palate is clean and refined, shaped by ripe, velvety tannins and a core of dark fruit that unfolds gradually — dark plum, mulberry, and blackcurrant, alongside a subtle note of liquorice root. Sweet black cherry and fresh, tart berry notes bring lift and definition, sitting alongside hints of sweet spice, vanilla, toasted hazelnut, and a lingering touch of thyme.

Approachable in youth, the wine already shows impressive harmony, supported by careful extraction and well-judged oak integration, which together lend both polish and accessibility. However, it retains the structure, and depth to evolve confidently in bottle, promising increasing complexity with time.
