Cuvée Royale AOC Tavel Rosé 2022
A deep, robust rosé with fresh red fruits, basil, white pepper; built for food. Would compliment Asian cuisine, roast lamb and, of course, Provençal flavours.
Tavel is typically famed for complex, robust rosé with production methods more akin the making of a red wine, with long maceration of the red varieties on their skins – in this instance 48 hours. After pressing, fermentation is a long slow process, at cooler temperatures to preserve aromatics and the nose is dominated by the fresh red fruit and the peppery spice of Syrah. It is deep in colour, the palate is full and tense with impressive yet not imposing structure and there are delicious notes of fresh cherry, wild strawberry, watermelon, basil, then more red cherry and, finally, a lick of pepper.
