We found we used the word ‘rich’ time and again when describing the M’hudi reds – deeply textured and structurally intense, and this Cabernet fits the mould but, once again, with elegance and refinement, too. It is not simply dense, impenetrable, and overripe. It is a deep purple at the core, moving to garnet at the rim and the nose is full with cassis, blackberry, capsicum, tomato-leaf and cigar-box. The palate is powerful, with lots of ripe, mouth-filling tannins and more blackberry, blackcurrant and cigar-box notes. 12 months barrel-ageing helps to soften those tannins and the density of fruit make this wonderfully approachable now, though there is certainly no rush with a happy 10 years ahead of the wine, at least.
