£43.49
The 44ha (total) of the Premier Cru of Mont de Milieu, lies on south and south-east facing slopes, and is typically one of the first vineyards to be picked, in order to preserve freshness. Beautiful aromas of white-fleshed fruits lead the nose of Barat’s expression, picked from a 1.13ha plot of 25+ year old vines. The palate is immediately broad, while finishing firm and fresh. Mont de Milieu, renowned for producing some of the richest and most structured Premier Crus, can be a little austere in youth which is why the winery choose to hold back their bottling until the wine has gained a little weight and richness, though this does not come at the expense of precision or tension.
