Domaine Poulleau Bourgogne Aligoté 2022

This Aligoté comes from a tiny 0.2977 ha plot in Volnay, hand-picked from 30+ year old vines. Ordinarily fermented in in-ox stainless steel, due to the small harvest in 2022, some old oak barrels which would otherwise have dried out if left empty at the property, were commissioned to raise the wine before bottling. Fortunately, the quality of the fruit could handle a little oak treatment and the resulting  wine is deliciously complex, with tension on the palate, and an immediately zippy core, but with hints of stone fruits too, to compliment the green apple, pear and lemon notes.
