The Hunting Hill vineyard in Kumeu is the warmer of Michael Brajkovich two Pinot sites, so the style is always a little riper, leaning to more black fruit flavours. This has a hint of dark cherry and violet, but fresh recurrent sourness, too. The Hunting Hill matures a little faster, too, so this already has an impressive, meaty savouryness which is quite delicious. It is medium-bodied, but the tannins are plentiful, supple, firm on the finish though lithe on the palate, complimenting the riper rich fruit flavour perfectly, with cracked black pepper, paprika and mocha, and sour red berries to finish.
