Château du Tertre Blanc 2016
This curious ‘Vin de France’ is as remarkable as it is unique, with a complex array of ripe fruits, an aromatic lift to the nose and palate, and an incredibly long, fresh finish.

The 2016 Tertre Blanc represents a unique style of white from this Classed Growth Bordeaux estate, as it is an equal blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Gros Manseng and Sauvignon Blanc. As such, it must be labelled as a ‘Vin de France’. The nose is immediately exotic and aromatic thanks to the Viognier, with peach skin, nectarine and orange blossom. The cool Sauvignon Blanc lends a wonderfully refreshing (and necessary) acidity to the palate, which is rich with orchard and tropical fruit flavours, and a wonderful lift of lemongrass complementing the finish. This is a remarkable white with texture, a little phenolic structure, and an abundance of ripe soft fruits, lemon pith and grapefruit, crisp green apple, and honeydew melon.
