For what is a principally an aromatic grape variety, Arinto has an impressive capacity to age gracefully. This is in part due to the high natural acidity the grapes preserve during maturation on the vine, however this alone does not ensure a white wine of style and character after some years in-bottle. Starting with lemon, lime and grapefruit, touches of stone and tropical fruits follow. What develops though is texture and weight which is finely poised along with honey, beeswax, hazelnut and an appealing camomile note. Complex yet fresh, this would be delicious with braised octopus or salted cod (bacalhau).
