This is a delicious Côtes-de-Nuits Pinot Noir with a modest structure, lean but fine tannins, and sweet and sour crunchy red fruit on the palate. This wine aptly describes the Gavignet style as any good Bourgogne Pinot Noir should – for instance, all Arnaud’s grapes are destemmed to ensure freshness and purity of fruit, which this has in abundance. The nose is bright and pretty, with redcurrant, cranberry and raspberry, accompanied by delicate cherry blossom notes, and warming clove, then a nod to more fruitcake spices which linger long on the palate, too.
