The Pinot Noir of Vosne Romanée is widely considered among the finest in the world, and Arnaud’s 0.2ha plot produces fruit of outstanding quality and potential. The 2022 is energetic and dramatically poised; youthful – yes, but substantial, and simultaneously elegant and generous. At this early stage, the wine shows pure purple fruit flavours, crushed strawberry, a little red cherry, Rooibos tea, clove and star anise, a delicate white pepper note and forest floor. The palate is equally fresh and velvety, with a wealth of fine-grained tannins that coat the the mouth, leaving a gorgeous texture to the dusty, serious, and well-balanced finish, which is piquant, undulating and remarkably long. This has the potential to see us into the 40s and beyond.
